Vision Correction Advice

How much does LASIK eye surgery cost on average?

and to anyone who's actually had the surgery before, is it worth it?

  1. The optimal time to have LASIK eye surgery is in your 30s or early 40s. Having it done when you're very young is not always the greatest idea because your eyes can change later on. You should consult with a reputable eye surgeon. Someone who is more concerned about your welfare than making a fast buck.

Most of the bigger LASIK surgery practices do offer financing and this makes sense because you're going to use this over the rest of your life. I wouldn't go with the doctor that offers you the cheapest price. You only get one set of eyes.

  2. In this case, you get what you pay for. None of that "2 for 1" crap!! Make sure your opthamologist has done at least 200 procedures. Yes , I had it done , and it's a MIRACLE!! I paid $1,000 per eye.
  3. about $2000/eye where we are (central TX)
  4. if you see the add well it 490$ x 2...
    ..
my operation cost is 2000$, the 490 its if you simple problem, but its up to you all information is free and pre visit is also free , so they will give you the cost and its up to you after

and it not for ever , so you may have to use lens after a few years....
  5. I met with a doctor and he told me to wait. It would improve my eyesight for now but in 20 years it may worsen.
He felt without surgery I would be better off 20 yrs from now.
I don't mind wearing glasses so I didn't have the surgery.

His charges were $750 per eye. Some doctors are $1000 to $1500 per eye.

    Hope this helps
  6. maloneyvision.com can answer most of your questions no matter where you go for your lasik. Price depends on who you see, how good they are, what they have in terms of experience and education. The best surgeons cost more. It is that simple. Good ones can be as much as $3,000 per eye depending on what you need done. Dr. Maloney is in LA but they can refer you to good doctors all over the world. He has written the only est selling book no Lasik and youc an now read it online. It is worth the read becuase it answers any questions that you might come up with and talks about how to choose a place and what costs you should look for as well as what questions you should ask of the place you are considering, so it is a really good book to consult and you can read it free!
  7. My husband and I had ours done in Kentucky and we paid 3400 and 3800 (I had custom so it was more expensive), but had a vision discount on our vision insurance. VERY worth it for both of us.

As for this indian guru thing...I actually have done a little research on the cost...and to fly out of the midwestern US (and not all of us live near LA, CA) I got a Travelocity quote for air/car/hotel for $5000...then you need 1 day, 1 week, 4-6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year followups. then their LASIK surgery costs $700/eye... Do the math...

I paid $3800 and had a wonderfully experienced surgeon who had performed well over 2000 procedures, educational background of a corneal specialist, only does the procedures on Thursday and Friday and the rest of the week he teaches and is on staff at a large university hospital, did his fellowship at one of the best hospitals specializing in cornea in the US, who came highly recommended by a colleague of his that I work for (my corneal specialist I work for). Yup...definitely worth it.

The range I found when I was researching in Kentucky was 1500-2100 per eye depending more on the technology.
  8. I have never had LASik eye surgery before but I can imagine the results are fantastic. Can you imagine how much your lifestyle would change? Never having to find your glasses in middle of the night or never having to put a contact in your eye again??? Sounds like a procedure that I would definately have to think about. I read that it could cost approximately $1,000-$6,000 PER EYE.....wow, I sure hope that the results are worth the cost.
